Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get my API key?
After signing up, go to your Dashboard. Your gateway key is shown once when created in the Keys section. Copy it and use it as the X-API-Key header in proxy requests. Keep it in a trusted server environment, not a browser or mobile app.
What models does Gatekeeper support?
Gatekeeper proxies any OpenAI-compatible API and Anthropic's Claude models. You can also register custom REST upstreams in your admin settings for any provider with an OpenAI-compatible interface.
Why am I getting a 402 error?
A 402 means your subscription is inactive, past_due, or canceled. Go to Billing in your dashboard to manage your plan or update your payment method.
How does the budget cap work?
Each tenant has a monthly dollar budget. Once your estimated spend reaches the cap, new proxy requests return 402. The budget resets on the 1st of each month. You can adjust your cap in Dashboard → Settings.
Can I use Gatekeeper for non-LLM APIs?
Yes — the Universal Gateway (Phase 2) supports any REST upstream. Register an upstream in your tenant admin with a slug, base URL, and authentication scheme, then call /api/gw/<slug>/<path>.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Manage Billing to open Stripe billing management. A portal cancellation stops future renewal after Stripe confirms it; access may continue through the paid period. Deleting your Gatekeeper account instead attempts immediate subscription cancellation. See the Cancellation & Refund Policy for details.
Where are my API credentials stored?
Upstream API keys you vault are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. The encryption key is managed as a server-only operational secret and never leaves the server. Keys are decrypted server-side at call time and never returned to the browser.
Is my prompt content logged?
Gatekeeper application usage logs store request metadata, not AI prompt/response or REST request/response bodies. Requests are sent to the upstream provider you configure, and hosting/error-monitoring providers may process technical information. Review the Privacy Policy for details.
